University of Arkansas at Monticello linebacker Robert Iverson Jr. was named Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a 13-tackle performance Saturday against Arkansas Tech.
Iverson, a junior from New Manchester, Ga., had 10 solo stops and three tackles for losses, including a sack, in UAM’s 24-13 home victory. UAM, as a team, recorded seven tackles for losses and three sacks.
Other GAC weekly honorees included Southern Arkansas quarterback Judd Barton (offense), who accounted for 283 yards offense in a win over Henderson State, and East Central kicker Brandon Perez (special teams), who made four out of four field goal attempts against Northwestern Oklahoma State. Perez kicked a career-long 51-yard field goal.
UAM returns to action at Henderson State on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium in Arkadelphia.
