University of Arkansas at Monticello quarterback Tavion Faulk was named Great American Conference Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for 390 yards and three touchdowns against Arkansas Tech University on Sept. 27.
Faulk, a junior from Carencro, La., completed 21 of 35 passes in the 31-24 win in Russellville, giving the Boll Weevils their first win of the year. He engineered a successful fourth-quarter comeback as UAM (1-3 overall and Great American) came from a 24-16 deficit with 9:32 left in the game.
Two minutes and 16 seconds later, Faulk threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Chasden Collins, his third touchdown throw of the day. Jaylen Sulton ran for the game-tying 2 points and then scored on a 4-yard run with 1:01 left to put the Weevils ahead for good.
Faulk also had touchdown passes to T.J. Fields (4 yards) and Drew Dronet (85 yards) in the first quarter as the Weevils built a 13-0 lead.
Other players of the week in the Great American include Southwestern Oklahoma State defensive back Zack Roberts, who had 10 tackles in a home win over Oklahoma Baptist; and East Central kicker Alexander McGregor, who went 2 for 2 in field goals and 5 for 5 in extra points in a win over Northwestern Oklahoma State.
UAM will host Southern Nazarene for homecoming at 2 p.m. Saturday.
