WCHS plans College Application Campaign Week

The College and Career Coach Program at Watson Chapel High School will sponsor events to promote Arkansas College Application Campaign Week. Activities include:

Monday, Oct. 23 — Teachers are asked to decorate their door or classroom with paraphernalia from the college or university they attended for the College Door/Classroom Décor activity. Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s Proclamation of Arkansas College Application Week will be read. At 1:45 p.m. in the auditorium, a round-table discussion about college and financial aid will allow seniors to talk with recruiters from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Southeast Arkansas College. A SEARK financial aid representative will also attend. Parents are welcome to attend and gather information about funding for college.

Tuesday, Oct. 24 – College T-Shirt Day calls for seniors to wear a T-Shirt of the college or university they plan to attend after graduation.

Wednesday, Oct. 25 – College Application Day will provide seniors the chance to use the library computers throughout the day to submit college applications. They will be given a T-shirt that reads “I Applied to College.”

Thursday, Oct. 26 – Seniors may wear their “I Applied to College” T-Shirts during the school day. A Quiz Bowl Competition (students versus teachers) will be held from 12:05-12:35 p.m. in the auditorium. Parent/Teacher Conferences are set from 4-7:30 p.m. The college and career coach will distribute information to parents about college admissions, scholarships, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other information.
