Watson Chapel takes two from Crossett

CROSSETT — Watson Chapel won both games of a baseball doubleheader against Crossett on Monday. The two games replaced a non-conference game against Robinson on Monday for Watson Chapel.

The Wildcats held Crossett to four hits in the first game for a 12-3 win before holding on for a 4-3 win in the second game.

Wyatt Jones pitched four innings for Watson Chapel (18-6, 7-1 in 5A-Southeast) in the first game and gave up two runs on three hits and struck out five batters. Justin Dardenne pitched the final three innings and struck out four batters.

V.J. Dickson was 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. Zach Bradford, Dardenne and Landon Colson all went 2 for 4.

Watson Chapel left 10 runners on base in the second game and no one had multiple hits for the Wildcats despite the win.

Bradford pitched a complete game and gave up two earned runs on five hits and struck out seven batters.

POSTPONEMENTS

A number of area baseball games and softball games were postponed due to the rainy and wet conditions on Monday.

Three baseball games — Dollarway at Dumas, Star City at Warren and Fordyce at Drew Central — were all rained out.

Dollarway at Dumas will be played at 4:30 p.m. today, and Fordyce will play its game at Drew Central in Monticello at 4:30 p.m. today. Star City will travel to Warren at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Two softball games — Monticello at Stuttgart and McGehee at DeWitt — were both rained out. McGehee at DeWitt has been postponed until 4:30 p.m. today. No make-up date has been determined for Monticello at Stuttgart, but Monticello plays at 4 p.m. today at home against Dumas.
