Watson Chapel hires 15 new employees

The Watson Chapel School Board voted unanimously to hire 15 new employees at the recommendation of Superintendent Danny Hazelwood at a meeting Monday night.

The new employees are Stephanie Darnell as a junior high art teacher; Marcus D. Smith as a high school study hall supervisor; Varnette Bruce as an instructional math specialist; Leigh Ann Weaver as an elementary teacher; Andrea McBeth as an elementary teacher; Cindy Reynolds as an elementary teacher; Beatrice Bell as an elementary teacher; Lydia R. Hardin as an elementary teacher; Johnita Waddle as an elementary teacher; Amanda Potter-Garner as a junior high math teacher; Emily Barnett as a junior high English teacher; Sheree Booth as a high school ALE teacher; Derrick Thompson as a full-time custodian; Tesha Canales as a substitute cafeteria worker; and Jimmy Harris as a substitute bus driver.

The board also voted unanimously to accept the resignations of James Moore, Rhonda Lee, Meredith Williams, Frances Frazier, Dawn Waddle-Sullivan, Lydia James-Harris and Stacie Lawhon.

The board also approved the July financial statement showing Watson Chapel School District ended the month with a balance of $3,087,294.99.
