Warren’s Cobb going JUCO route

WARREN — Jalen Cobb will not sign with the University of Arkansas football team today, Warren coach Bo Hembree said.

Cobb gave a verbal commitment to the Razorbacks before his senior season started. But according to Hembree, the wide receiver is going to sign with Coffeyville (Kan.) Junior College.

“He didn’t have the grades and he is going the junior college route,” Hembree said in a phone interview Tuesday.

Today is National Signing Day, the first day high school athletes can sign letters of intent with colleges to play football.

Hembree said Cobb’s ACT scores did not meet the requirements for Arkansas, and that Cobb has taken the test multiple times. He would not comment on what Cobb’s ACT scores were.

Rivals.com considers Cobb, a wide receiver, a four-star recruit.

White Hall wideout and defensive end Jeremy Sprinkle will still sign with Arkansas at 10 a.m. today at his school’s gymnasium. Also, Rison two-way standout Quanterio Heath will ink with Arkansas State at 2:30 p.m.
