Steve Wallace has been promoted to run game coordinator at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
Wallace will continue to coach the offensive line while serving as the run game coordinator, Coach Alonzo Hampton announced.
Wallace joined the coaching staff in 2023 and helped develop many of UAPB’s run game schemes, allowing 5 Golden Lions rushers to go for more than 100 yards in a game.
Wallace coached HBCU All-American, first-team All-SWAC, HBCU Legacy Bowl, FCS Bowl, Tropical Bowl and HBCU Pigskin attendee Ryan Atkins. Through Wallace’s mentorship, Atkins also became the offensive team captain his senior year.
Wallace was promoted after stepping in as interim offensive coordinator for the last 2 1/2 games in 2023. He helped the Golden Lions produce 802 yards in eight quarters, score 80% in the red zone and score on the first possession of a game, including a come-from-behind 35-34 win over Texas Southern after being down 22 heading into the fourth quarter.
