The United Way of Southeast Arkansas will host its first community Day of Caring in conjunction with its Fall 2016 Campaign Kick-off.
The Day of Caring will begin at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, with a rally at Saracen Landing. There will be donuts, juice, and coffee available. Teams and individuals who have pre-registered will have been given their assignments and T-shirts in advance. Registration will also be available that day. Everyone is welcomed to help local organizations in need.
Day of Caring is a mobilization of volunteers from businesses, civic groups, churches, families and individuals, to celebrate the spirit of giving through service by providing a day of volunteer opportunities to service providers in the community. Volunteers will be assigned to a local United Way partner agency where they will tackle volunteer projects.
“No matter what your interests or skills, there is an opportunity for you to get involved,” a spokesman said. “Some projects may include painting a room, cleaning out a flowerbed, or sorting canned food, serving food or participating in after school activities.”
Volunteer information sheets are due by Thursday, Sept. 22. Details: United Way, 534-2153, UWseark.org or danya_lewis@pbreynoldscenter.org
