University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff senior guard Quion Williams received both All-American and All-Star honors this week.

Williams was selected to play in the HBCU All-Star Game, which will be held on April 5 at Corteva Coliseum in Indianapolis, and was named an HBCU All-American by BOXTOROW.

The Jonesboro native led the SWAC in assists with 5.4 per game. His 8.3 rebounds per game ranked second in the conference, and his 17.9 points per game ranked sixth. He was the only UAPB men’s basketball player honored by BOXTOROW or selected for the All-Star game.

Williams, who was also named First Team All-SWAC this season, was one of nine HBCU players named a First Team All-American. Four other SWAC players made the first team.

Jackson State guard Daeshun Ruffin was named HBCU Player of the Year. Tennessee State guard Aaron Nkrumah earned the HBCU Impact Award, while Tennessee State’s Nolan Smith was named HBCU Coach of the Year. North Carolina A&T’s Lewis Walker was named HBCU Rookie of the Year.

Next month, Williams will play on Team Sam Jones in the HBCU All-Star Game. His team, led by Bethune-Cookman Coach Reggie Theus and Fayetteville State Coach Devin Hoehn, will include players from the SWAC, Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association and independents.

The opposing squad, Team Bob Dandridge, will be made up of players from the MEAC, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and independents.

Williams will play alongside SWAC stars such as Prairie View A&M guard Dontae Horne, Bethune-Cookman guard Jakobi Heady, Alabama A&M guard Kintavious Dozier and others.
