The nation’s largest Black History Month parade will spotlight leadership, legacy and excellence as communities gather for the 38th Annual African American Parade, one of the most prominent cultural celebrations in the United States.

The parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday in Shreveport, La., and will be streamed live on KTBS+, a streaming service of the local ABC station.

Among this year’s distinguished honorees is Dr. Tamara P. Glover, reigning Mrs. USA International Global, who represents the United States on a national and international stage while proudly calling Arkansas home. As one of the official honorees, Glover will participate in the historic parade recognizing her leadership in education, mental health advocacy and community impact.

Dr. Glover serves as an associate professor at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where her work bridges scholarship, service and community engagement. While her national title reflects a commitment to representing women, families and communities across the country, her Arkansas roots remain central to her purpose and platform.

In addition to her role as a parade honoree, Glover is an active committee member of the National HBCU Black Wall Street Career Fest. Through this national initiative, she contributes mental health expertise, leadership development and wellness-centered strategies that support students and professionals connected to Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the United States. Her involvement reflects a broader commitment to workforce readiness, holistic wellness and sustainable success within HBCU communities.

This year’s parade will be led by Professor Edmond W. Davis of Arkansas Baptist College, who will serve as Grand Marshal. The parade also honors a distinguished group of leaders from across the country whose work spans education, public service, culture and community advocacy, reflecting the depth and diversity of Black excellence celebrated during Black History Month.

Glover’s participation alongside fellow honorees underscores Arkansas’ continued presence on the national stage and highlights how leadership rooted in education, service and community engagement can resonate far beyond state lines, according to a news release.
