Laurence B. Alexander has been approved as chancellor of the University of Michigan-Flint.
Alexander, who led the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in the same role for the past 11 years, was officially approved during a University of Michigan Board of Regents meeting May 16, three days after the Flint campus announced his recommendation. A meet-and-greet for Alexander was held May 17 at UM-Flint.
Alexander said his last day at UAPB will be June 28 and his first day at UM-Flint will be July 1. His new appointment is for five years.
Donna Fry has served as interim chancellor since August.
A spokesperson for the University of Arkansas System said the plan for identifying Alexander’s successor at UAPB is to name a search committee and interim chancellor in the coming weeks.
