One final tune-up awaits the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women’s basketball team before starting SWAC play next weekend.

UAPB is on the road today to face McNeese State at 1 p.m. in Lake Charles, La.

UAPB (4-8) is looking to rebound from its 62-47 home loss to Ole Miss with a third nonconference Division I road win this season.

The Lady Lions struggled offensively against a great Ole Miss defense, but McNeese (4-8) could provide UAPB a good chance to get back into rhythm.

The Cowgirls haven’t defeated a Division I foe this season and are 0-2 against the Southwestern Athletic Conference, having lost 85-70 to Prairie View A&M and 85-82 to Mississippi Valley State.

McNeese allows 82.4 points per game and hasn’t held a Division I team under 85 points.

UAPB guard and leading scorer Zaay Green will have a chance to bounce back after Ole Miss held her to a season-low 12 points.

This game will also provide Corina Carter another warm-up before conference play.

The UAPB guard returned from injury against Ole Miss, playing 11 minutes off the bench.

She was averaging 8 points per game before her injury but didn’t score against the Rebels.

McNeese is led by Emilia Tenbrock and Mireia Yespes, who score 12.7 and 10.5 points per game, respectively.

The Cowgirls average 70.1 points per game as a team.
