The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff was picked to finish 10th in the SWAC this season according to the league’s preseason poll, which was released Monday.
The Lady Lions finished 10th last season with a 3-13 SWAC record. UAPB was picked to finish ahead of Alcorn State, 11th, and Mississippi Valley State, 12th, which would be identical to last year.
Jackson State was picked first, just five points ahead of Florida A&M. Alabama State was picked third, Prairie View A&M fourth, and Alabama A&M fifth. All five received at least one first place vote.
Bethune-Cookman was picked sixth, Grambling State seventh, Texas Southern eighth, and Southern ninth to round out the poll.
