The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff could not generate much scoring Monday afternoon, as Al-corn State ran away with an 82-48 victory for the Golden Lions’ second loss in a row in Lorman, Miss.
UAPB (3-10, 2-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) went 0-2 during a road trip that began at Southern University on Monday after starting conference play 2-0. Shaun Doss Jr. and Markedric Bell had 10 points apiece to lead UAPB, but both were active on both ends of the court. Bell had eight rebounds and three blocks, and Doss collected five rebounds and two steals.
Alcorn State (2-6, 2-1 SWAC) led 34-25 at halftime after UAPB jumped out to a 7-1 lead. The Lions pulled within seven points on several occasions in the second half but went on a scoring drought that helped the Braves come away with a 34-point win.

Also in Lorman, Khadijah Brown’s career-high 16 rebounds to go with 17 points were not enough to help UAPB (2-9, 1-4 SWAC) catch up with the Braves (4-5, 4-1).
The double-double is Brown’s sixth of the season.
Jazzeem Bethea finished with nine points and Mariquita Cotton had seven for the Lady Lions, who trailed 21-7 after the first quarter and 38-17 at halftime.
