UAPB to host program with Arkansas Rehabilitation Services

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will host a community kick-off and ribbon cutting to celebrate a program with seven interns through Project SEARCH® Arkansas: ACCESS® Initiative.

In partnership with Arkansas Rehabilitation Services, the program trains young adults with developmental disabilities for competitive employment opportunities, according to a news release.

The kick off will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Conference Room 1 of the UAPB STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) Building.

“UAPB Project SEARCH interns will open and close the program, along with leading the ribbon cutting,” according to the release.

“The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is the first site business partner in Southeast Arkansas to host Project SEARCH, which began as a partnership between ACCESS, a Little Rock-based non-profit organization offering evaluations, therapy services, education and vocational training for individuals with special needs and Arkansas Rehabilitative Services (ARS), a division of the Department of Career Education,” according to the release.
