The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will host its 25th annual Student/Faculty Research Forum Wednesday and Thursday. The event is free and open to the public.
Along with more than 40 research presentations Wednesday, students and faculty will hear from Ruth D. Jones, Mishap Investigation specialist at NASA; Tameka A. Bailey, research associate in Hamid Band laboratory; and Maureen Dolan, research assistant/professor at the Arkansas State University’s Arkansas Bioscience Institute. Their presentations will be made in the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts Center at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.
Jones performs planning and preparatory work at the NASA/Glenn Research Center in Huntsville, Ala., to ensure that mishap investigation teams are trained and available to support the deployment of the Mishap Investigation Team and the effective and efficient conduct of Type A/High Visibility Mishap Investigations.
As a research associate at the Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Bailey focuses her research on characterizing the molecular mechanism of targeted therapies for Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) positive breast cancers.
Dolan has an entrepreneurial component with the intent to integrate biotechnology into the regional commercial sector through joint ventures and other business relationships in her position at the Bioscience Institute at ASU.
