The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences recently celebrated the accomplishments of its graduating students, peer mentors and faculty during a special lunch and learn event.
The theme of the spring 2025 graduation luncheon was “Power, Courage and Determination: Achieving Truth, Wisdom and Justice,” according to a news release.
This spring, 38 students graduated from the school, including 35 undergraduates and three graduate students. Among them were 18 SAFHS 1890 Scholars and four USDA/1890 National Scholars.
Four graduating students served as peer mentors in the school’s Golden Lions Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program, which pairs upperclassmen with first- and second-year students to promote academic and personal growth.
Madson Purifoy, an SAFHS 1890 Scholar who will begin a doctoral program at Kansas State University, delivered the “Pass the Baton” student charge. Purifoy encouraged students to persevere through setbacks and not allow past challenges to define their future achievements.
