The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will host a meeting at Forrest City on how the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) can benefit farmers and rural small businesses.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at the East Arkansas Enterprise Community (EAEC) Conference Center at Forrest City.
Laura Tucker, energy coordinator for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development, will discuss how REAP assists producers and small businesses with efficiency improvements through federal loan guarantees and grants.
The sponsor is the UAPB School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences Small Farm Program, according to a news release.
“REAP provides guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements,” according to the release.
