Byron Tate, an instructor in the Department of Multimedia Communication at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, has been invited to be a panelist for a debate between the three candidates for state attorney general.
The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) will record the attorney general debate at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall at the University of Central Arkansas at Conway and air the episode at 8 p.m. the same day. All three candidates, Kerry Hicks, Mike Lee and incumbent Leslie Rutledge, have agreed to participate, according to a news release. AETN will host political eight debates during the week of Oct. 8-12.
Tate joined the faculty at UAPB in fall 2017. He is a former editor and publisher of The Commercial.
Tate has worked in newspapers for more than 30 years. He teaches journalism courses in the UAPB communication department and also serves as the adviser to the campus newspaper, The Arkansawyer, and the Lion Yearbook, according to the release.
