UAPB hires Stout as baseball coach

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff has selected its next baseball coach.

UAPB officially announced Wednesday it has hired Logan Stout, the founder and CEO of the Dallas Patriots Baseball Club, to lead its baseball program.

“I’m extremely grateful and excited to build upon what the previous coaching staff and teams have created at UAPB baseball,” Stout said in a statement. “UAPB has a phenomenal legacy and I truly believe the potential is endless for the baseball program.”

The Dallas Patriots are a youth select baseball organization based out of McKinney, Texas, a Dallas suburb. According to the organization’s website, every graduate of the program “has been afforded the opportunity to play college baseball.”

The website also says the Patriots average seven MLB draft picks per year with notable alumni including Boston Red Sox infielder Trevor Story, Miami Marlins first baseman Josh Bell, Atlanta Braves pitcher A.J. Minter, Baltimore Orioles pitcher Jon Heasley, and Colorado Rockies pitcher John Curtiss. More than 200 MLB Draft picks have come through the Patriots’ program.

Outside of his affiliation with the Dallas Patriots, Stout is an author and works as a keynote speaker.

“As we progressed through the hiring process, it became clear that Logan Stout would be an excellent addition to the Golden Lions baseball program,” UAPB athletic director Chris Robinson said. “He has a positive reputation within the baseball community for his relentless recruiting efforts, his ability to develop student-athletes, and his high character as a coach.

“Logan has a wide network across the country, which will enable him to have an immediate impact on the program. We are excited to welcome Logan and his family to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.”

Stout replaces Carlos James, who departed the program following this past season after 14 years in charge.
