Tuesday’s second round of golf at the Baton Rouge Regional wasn’t kind to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
UAPB sits at 73 over par through two rounds of the three-round NCAA regional tournament at the University Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Golden Lions shot seven strokes behind their Monday pace.
The Golden Lions were one stroke behind Yale after the first round, but the Bulldogs improved by 16 strokes in the second to pass Loyola Maryland for 12th place. Yale is +48, while Loyola is +49.
UAPB freshman Jose Berenguel led the Golden Lions after shooting a 76 Monday on the Par 72 course, but he turned in an 81 Tuesday. Jules De Reu improved by three strokes Tuesday, and the two are now tied for 60th, both sitting at +13.
Timur Alalin improved by two strokes and sits in 70th at +24, just ahead of Angel Perez’s +25. Angel Soria rounds out the team at +32.

Virginia (-6) leads the field for the second-straight day, with national No. 1-seed Auburn (-1) holding at second. Texas Tech (+3) surged three spots to third place. Duke (+6) and Ohio State (+7) round out the top five. The top five teams after Wednesday’s final round will advance to the NCAA national championships in Carlsbad, California.
Host LSU (+8) moved up four spots into sixth place. Houston (+9) dropped four spots to seventh. Oregon and South Carolina (+15) are tied for eighth, with Lipscomb (+16) and Louisville (+26) following.
The top individual not on a qualifying team will also advance to the national championships. LSU’s Connor Gaunt (-3) remains in that spot after round two.
The Baton Rouge Regional will conclude play Wednesday with action beginning at 8 a.m.
