UAPB announces mentor, scholarship recipient

University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff student Aliyah Glover has been selected as a mentor with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund/Walmart Foundation for the 2015-2016 academic school year.

Glover, a junior majoring in biology with a 3.5 GPA from Little Rock, will assist freshmen with transitioning to the academic and social environment on a college campus.

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund also awards scholarships to first-generation freshmen and pairs them with qualified student mentors. UAPB students selected for the scholarship are: Kimberly Boyd (Somerville, Tennessee, business education); Bria Harris (Little Rock, industrial technology, management and applied engineering); and Keiessence Mason (Dermott, biology).

Glover is currently the vice president of STEM Scholars; executive secretary of Student Government Association; chaplain of Essence of a Woman; member of the Carolyn F. Blakely Honors College and the Biology/Pre-Health Club; and parliamentarian for the Alpha Rho Chapter of Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She is also active in the Office of Career Services.

Glover will receive a $500 stipend ($250 per semester) from TMCF for serving as a mentor.
