UAM to host soil judging competition

Soil judging teams from across the country will travel to the University of Arkansas at Monticello for the 2015 National Collegiate Soil Judging Competition Sunday, April 19, through Friday, April 24.

The event is sponsored annually by the American Society of Agronomy and the Soil Science Society of America.

The teams are comprised of top students in soils, agronomy, geology, earth science and related majors. The top four finishers at the national competition will represent the United States at the International Field Course and Soil Judging Contest in Gödöllö, Hungary, in September.

“This is a special event for UAM, for the School of Agriculture, and for Arkansas,” said Paul Francis, professor of plant and soil science at UAM. “These students represent the best and brightest in their disciplines.”
