UAM to host robotics competition

The University of Arkansas at Monticello will host the second annual STEM VEX Robotics Competition for middle and high school students Saturday, Feb. 6.

Using robots created by students from the VEX Robotics Design System, 16 teams will compete with custom robots in qualifying rounds and skills challenges. The event is being sponsored locally by the UAM STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Center, a part of the School of Education.

The STEM VEX Robotics Competition is one in a series of tournaments supported by the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation and the Arkansas Science Teachers Association.

Teams that place in this competition will compete for state awards. Once qualified at the state level, teams will then move on to compete in Anaheim, California, for the World Championship. At the World Championship, American students will challenge their peers from other countries.
