University of Arkansas at Monticello junior guard Isaac Jackson has been named the Great American Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the GAC office announced Monday afternoon.
Jackson has been on a tear this season, leading the Boll Weevils as their top scorer. Over the past week, Jackson scored 52 points, seeing more than 20 points scored for the fourth and fifth times of the season, between two home wins against Langston University and Harding University. Jackson went for 29 points (second-highest on the season), 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals and an assist in a 67-64 victory over Langston on Monday night, before posting 23 points (third time this season), 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 assist in Saturday afternoon’s 81-77 decision over the Bisons.
With the pair of games, Jackson ranks first in the GAC in scoring average (23 points per game), first in field goals (75) and second in total points (184) and leads the Boll Weevils in total rebounds (39) and field goal percentage (.500) among those who’ve attempted at least four per game. His scoring average is tied for 11th in NCAA Division II through Saturday’s games.
UAM (3-5, 1-2 GAC) will play Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia at 3 p.m. Saturday.
