UAM consultant receives award

Michael Jones was recently recognized as a member of the $4 Million Club at the annual Arkansas Small Business Technology and Development Center spring staff conference in Little Rock.

Jones is a business consultant for the ASBTDC at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He was honored for assisting Southeast Arkansas individuals and small businesses in acquiring more than $4.9 million in small business loans and more than $200,000 in contracts in 2015.

Jones, whose primary responsibilities include assisting clients with small business loans and business plans, joined the UAM ASBTDC in September 2014.

A Monticello native, Jones is a 1986 graduate of Monticello High School, holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and is pursuing a master of business administration degree from Delta State University. Prior to coming to UAM, he worked as director of finance and administration for the non-profit Southeast Arkansas Community Action Corporation.

“I want to commend Michael for his service to our clients,” said Stephanie Harton, director of the UAM ASBTDC. “He has provided invaluable help to small businesses and individuals to help them achieve their goals.”

The UAM ASBTDC is one of seven small business centers in Arkansas. The lead center is located at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The centers help Arkansans start new businesses, purchase existing businesses, expand their businesses or commercialize their research or new technology. Details: ASBTDC, 870-460-1910.
