Five students from the University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Technology–Crossett earned top honors at the Arkansas SkillsUSA Conference.
They were among the 22 welding students who competed in the contest April 14-16 in Hot Springs, according to a news release.
Two UAM-CTC welding students and three UAM-CTC concurrently enrolled high school welding students from Crossett High School won medals.
In the college division for Pipe Welding, John George of UAM-CTC won a silver medal, and Caden Moyer of UAM-CTC won a bronze medal.
In the high school division for Pipe Welding, Carson McCone of Crossett High School won a gold medal and Drake Gulledge of Crossett High School earned a bronze medal. Cameron Whaley of Crossett High School won a silver medal in the high school division for Welding Sculpture.

UAM-CTC competitors included Mason Frisby, John George and Caden Moyer.
Crossett High School competitors included Dalton Craig, Drake Gulledge, Waylon Jackson, Carson McCone, Will Vandiver, Netagee Webb and Cameron Whaley.
Hamburg High School competitors included Jeremiah Burrell, Joshua Burrell, Elijah Cossey, Rafael Dominguez, Easton Foster, Cody Franklin, Braydan Knight, Tyson Lane, Nathan Lemus, Caleb Neal, Parker Shipley and Jerry Warren.
Donnie DuBose is instructor of welding at UAM-CTC.
“All the students who participated demonstrated professionalism and represented the university with pride,” DuBose said. “We will continue to set our standards high at UAM-CTC.”
According to its website, SkillsUSA “is a national membership association serving high school, college and middle school students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations, and for further education. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.”
Students who earn gold medals at the Arkansas SkillsUSA Conference are eligible to compete at the National SkillsUSA Conference in Atlanta, Ga., from June 23-27.
