UAM catcher Chaz Poppy gets All-American honorable mention

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association selected University of Arkansas at Monticello catcher Chaz Poppy to its All-American honorable mention list.

Poppy, a senior from Sherwood, added to a growing list of honors from this season, which also include NCBWA first-team All-Region, Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA first-team All-Region), first-team All-Great American Conference, GAC All-Defensive team and GAC All-Tournament team.

Poppy hit a career-high .389 for the season, hammering 84 hits in 216 at-bats with 9 home runs, and slugged .611 while stealing 7 stolen bases. He also posted a .986 fielding percentage with 4 errors and 270 putouts.
