The University of Arkansas at Monticello athletic department has unveiled the Beth Maxwell Media Center, named after a longtime supporter the university’s athletic teams.

UAM said in a recent social media post the new media center is a complete renovation of the old pool-pump room. The indoor pool was transformed into the Kenneth S. Hunt Athletic Performance Center in 2023 and the space where the media center now exists was unused for years, according to UAM.

The space now houses UAM’s athletic communications office and was made possible through fundraising, according to the university. It will be used for team headshots, media days, conference interviews and podcasts dedicated to UAM athletics.

“We are over the moon with being able to name our new media center after Mrs. Beth Maxwell,” UAM Athletic Director Hud Jackson said in a statement. “The Maxwell family has been huge supporters of our university and our athletic department. Mr. Tommy was one of the first people I met when I interviewed for the job in 2010, and I knew that he was a great family man just from that one interaction. Miss Beth was always about the Boll Weevils and (Cotton) Blossoms and was a huge supporter of everything we did in athletics. It is truly an honor to have her name on that building forever.”
