Four area students have been named members of the new University of Arkansas at Little Rock Student Philanthropy Council, Trojans Supporting Trojans, and are giving to worthy causes.
Dustin Brown of Hermitage, Heather Haynie of White Hall, Stefanie Valentine of Pine Bluff, and Lukas Steed of Star City helped raise $3,000 by the end of the spring 2014 semester for the Jennifer Boccarossa Endowed Scholarship at UALR.
The scholarship honors Boccarossa, who graduated from UALR and was a frequent soloist for the UALR Community Chorus and Concert Choir. She was only 30 years old when she died in November 2013 of a hypertensive stroke.
The philanthropy council was established in the fall of 2013 to create a culture of giving by students and for students.
