Former Eastman Chemical Co. senior vice president Perry Stuckey has been named chairman of the search committee for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s next chancellor.
Stuckey, who holds a bachelor’s degree from UAPB, has retired as chief human resources officer at Eastman, where he was responsible for global human resources, according to a news release from the University of Arkansas System. Stuckey is now president of his own Transformational Advisory Group.
“I am humbled and honored to serve on this important advisory committee and look forward to working with this experienced team of committee members, President (Donald) Bobbitt and the Board of Trustees to help find the best chancellor to continue the track record of excellence for UAPB, our region and state,” Stuckey said in a UA System news release.
Bobbitt, who will retire as system president in January, named the committee to search for the successor to Laurence B. Alexander, who officially left UAPB on June 30 to take over as chancellor at the University of Michigan-Flint. Andrea Stewart is the interim chancellor.
Other committee members include:
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
David Beck, White Hall alderman
Calvin Booker, UAPB alumnus and UA Foundation Executive Committee member
Stephen A. Broughton, UAPB alumnus and former UA System trustee
Adrian Childs, UAPB associate vice chancellor for finance and administration

The committee will begin its work to advertise the position and recruit qualified individuals for consideration, according to the release.
“Being a part of a search committee is hard, diligent work, and I sincerely appreciate the commitment of those who agreed to help us through this process,” Bobbitt said in the release. “The diversity of the committee members will bring a variety of voices to this search, enabling us to identify a short list of exceptional finalists for the campus community to consider.”
The finalists will be available to stakeholders on and off the campus, and the committee will receive feedback from those groups, Bobbitt added.
Stewart, who has worked at UAPB since 1988, said in June she would like to serve as interim chancellor for one year and return to her role as provost and vice chancellor until she retires.
“UAPB has a history of strong leadership and I’m confident Dr. Stewart can continue that trajectory during the length of this process,” Bobbitt said in the release. “I’m positive that this national search will produce top-tier talent and that the right candidate will be identified to serve the unique institution and the region, thereby ensuring that the important work our state’s historic campus will continue to fulfill its mission.”
