Two police officers injured in Thursday traffic accident

Two Pine Bluff police officers received minor injuries Thursday when the car they were riding in was hit by another car.

The accident was reported at 5:40 p.m. on East Harding Avenue near Nebraska Street.

Pine Bluff Police Department spokesman Sgt. David De Foor said that the officers, Jalyndria Murry and Terrance Anderson, were responding to an officer-needs-help call at The Pines mall and were eastbound with their blue lights and siren on at the time of the accident.

According to the accident report from Traffic Officer Ryan Edwards, the driver of the other vehicle, Jeri Mark, 69, of Pine Bluff, was in the turning lane and attempted to turn left into a private parking lot when the police car hit the 2005 Chrysler van that Mark was driving in the rear passenger-side tire.

Murry, 25, and Anderson, 28, were taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where they were treated and later released. De Foor said both were “pretty banged up.”

According to the report, Mark received possible injuries but was not taken to the hospital.

Damage to the 2002 Ford Crown Victoria police car was estimated at $3,000. Damage to the van that Mark was driving was estimated at $1,500.

Mark was issued a citation for failure to yield to right of way on a left turn.
