Two people were killed Wednesday morning in a head-0n crash in Desha County.
Susie M. Bryant, 62, of Arkansas City, was traveling east on Arkansas Highway 4 when the 2012 Dodge Caliber she was driving crossed the center line and struck a 1997 Nissan driven by Mahina W. Powell, 22, also of Arkansas City, a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police said.
Both women were killed in the accident, which was reported at 6:50 a.m.
Trooper Byron L. Calhoun reported that the weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.
The report also indicated that neither woman was wearing a seat belt.
The deaths were the 416th and 417th reported so far this year on the state’s highways.
