Two arrested in burglary investigation

A reported burglary Monday at an apartment on West 10th Avenue resulted in the arrest of two people who allegedly pawned some of the stolen items.

Detective Jerry Lambert reported that the victim told officers that her sister, Jennifer Marks, 27, was possibly involved because the sister had asked her for money the previous day and she had refused.

A flat-screen television and Play Station game console were reported missing, and Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said police were able to identify Marks and Chester Steverson, 36, as the two people who pawned the television and Play Station.

Lambert reported that when Marks was questioned, she said her sister had given her permission to pawn the items, while Steverson refused to make a statement.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Marks and Steverson after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge them with theft by receiving.

Marks and Steverson were told to come back to court May 31.
