Two arrested after alleged robbery

A reported domestic disturbance at a house on West Eighth Avenue Tuesday night resulted in the arrest of two men who allegedly robbed the sister of one of them.

Dametrick McDaniel, 24, the victim’s brother, and Sherrodrick McDaniel, the victim’s cousin, 25, allegedly took the woman’s purse after striking her in the head, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Thursday.

Detective Jeremy Oswalt reported that Aisha McDaniel told police her brother and cousin asked to use her vehicle and when she refused, they grabbed her purse which contained keys to the vehicle.

She said she tried to get the purse back and they hit her in the head before leaving the house, and Oswalt said she told police the purse contained cash, a bank debit card and other items.

Kizer said both Dametrick McDaniel and Sherrodrick McDaniel were placed on probation earlier this year after pleading guilty to several counts of residential burglary and theft of property.

Dametrick McDaniel and Sherrodrick McDaniel were arrested late Wednesday night.

Because of that probation, Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $50,000 bond for each of the two after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge them with robbery.

Kearney also ordered Dametrick McDaniel and Sherrodrick McDaniel to have no contact with Aisha McDaniel until the case is over and to come back to court Sept. 13.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent both men.
