The site of a train derailment Friday south of Pine Bluff has returned to service, although cleanup work at the site will continue for a few weeks, according to Union Pacific officials.
“We were able to get the line clear and opened at 2 a.m. on Oct. 11,” Union Pacific spokesman Jeff DeGraff said in an email. “We are still working in the area with some of the derailed cars, offloading product and standing them back up. This work may continue for a couple of weeks.”
Seventeen Union Pacific train cars derailed at about 6 a.m. Friday near Gaddy Koonce Road. No one was injured and the train was not carrying hazardous materials.
