Jacqueline Tillmon, a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, announced her candidacy for Jefferson County justice of the peace of District 1.
Tillmon said she is committed to serving the community.
She has worked with numerous law offices, including Chadick Law Firm and Warren Law Firm in Pine Bluff, as well as Swanson Martin & Bell LLP in Chicago.
“Through these experiences, I have gained extensive knowledge of procedural law and a firm belief that a justice of the peace must always uphold the law with integrity and fairness,” she said in a news release.
She is a graduate of South Suburban College, where she earned an ABA-approved paralegal certification.

“My vision for Jefferson County is one of prosperity, accountability and renewed trust in our local government,” she said.
To accomplish these goals, she plans to work closely with county leadership to:
Ensure Jefferson County maintains a balanced budget.
Prioritize improvements to county roads and infrastructure.
Foster community partnerships to attract businesses, create jobs and expand opportunities for entrepreneurs.
“I believe our citizens deserve a justice of the peace who truly represents their best interests. With my experience and dedication, I will bring clarity to the law, restore common sense to the quorum court, and help move Jefferson County forward,” she said.
“I have served as vice president and membership chairperson of the Arkansas Association of Legal Assistants, president of the Jefferson County Association of Legal Assistants and president of the National Association of Legal Secretaries. I am also a proud member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill, Ark.,” she said.
Tillmon is married to Roy Tillmon and has with three children: Natasha Prudhomme, Branden Brown and Braxton Brown.
“I look forward to the opportunity to serve and to earn your trust as justice of the peace for District 1,” she said.
The filing period for candidates begins Nov. 3. The primary election is March 3.
