The Links Inc. Pine Bluff Chapter began its first session of Linking with Upward Bound on Feb. 13 with 31 participants.
The targeted students are ninth- and 10th-graders in the Upward Bound program at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff under the leadership of Tenita Shannon Gragg, according to a news release.
The project is under the sponsorship of the Health and Human Services Facet of The Links chaired by Beverly Cotledge. Other members Jerilean Brewer, Hazel Linton, Angela Paskel and Barbara Akins.
The lesson for the session was on fruits, water, and vegetables in order to discuss the eating habits of the students. Linton led them through the session and they shared what they like and don’t like and learned how their eating habits affect the health of their bodies.
The next session will be held on March 13, and Brewer will present information of “Proteins and My Plate.” Cotledge will be the presenter for the April 24 session on exercising. All lesson plans for all three sessions are prepared by Sonya Anderson, according to the release.
