Five talent shows are scheduled for the Southeast Arkansas District Fair to be held at Hestand Stadium during the week of Sept. 24-29.
The week’s final winners of the Jefferson County and Southeast Arkansas District shows will be eligible to perform in the Arkansas State Fair Talent Show, according to Patsy Strode and Mindy Melton, co-chairmen of the District Talent Show Committee.
The opening show for the week is the Jefferson County Talent Show, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 24. Contestants must be 10 years old by the date of the show and not over 20 years old on that same date. They must reside in Jefferson County and should not be married. The contestant must select one of the following categories to compete in: Variety, Instrumental Solo, Vocal Solo, Vocal Group, Dance Solo or Dance Group. Vocal Group and Dance Group should consist of two to 15 people performing together. The Southeast Arkansas District Semi-Finals Talent Show is at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25. Winners from the semi-finals will compete on Sept. 29 for an opportunity to compete at the Arkansas State Fair. Contestants will be winners from the Jefferson County Show and the other 16 counties in the district, which include Arkansas, Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Cleveland, Dallas, Desha, Drew, Faulkner, Grant, Lonoke, Ouachita and Prairie. Categories to compete also include Variety, Instrumental Solo, Vocal Solo, Vocal Group, Dance Solo, Dance Group.
Gospel Talent Show Night is Sept. 27. Everybody’s Talent Show is Sept. 28. Talent shows on these two days are open to any resident of the 16 counties listed above. These shows are not offered on the state level.
