Prairie View A&M (8-9, 3-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) used a 15-3 run early in the second half to erase a slim deficit and beat visiting UAPB at the William J. Nicks Building in Prairie View, Texas.
Ramel Lloyd Jr.’s three-pointer with 16:51 left in the game gave UAPB (6-11, 3-1) a 40-38 lead, but Keeshawn Mason followed with two free throws to start the Panthers’ surge. The Golden Lions turned the ball six times and made just 1 of 4 shot attempts during Prairie View A&M’s 12-point swing, which lasted more than six minutes.

The Panthers’ lead grew to as much as 18 points before a closing charge made things closer for UAPB.
Cory Wells finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals for Prairie View A&M, which also put an end to the Golden Lions’ five-game winning streak. Dontae Horne scored 18 points and Lance Williams ended with 14.
Alex Mirhosseini’s 17 points and Quion Williams’ 15 points led UAPB. Jaquan Scott, the team’s second-leading scorer at 16.3 points per game, was held to just five points on 2-of-9 shooting.
