The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an apparent home invasion by two armed men Wednesday afternoon, according to Major Lafayette Woods Jr., operations commander at the sheriff’s department.
Two men reportedly bound a homeowner when they robbed a residence at 3218 Holiday Drive in Jefferson County, Woods said.
The homeowner, Tonya Wurl, reported that about 5 p.m., a white male knocked on her door saying she needed to sign for a package. The suspect was approximately 5’8”, slender built and wore a package delivery type of uniform, Woods said.
Wurl reported that the male had a small package and a clipboard and asked her for a pen so she could sign for the item. When she turned to get a pen, he forced his way into the residence along with another white male, whom Wurl described as approximately 6’1”, with a medium build, wearing a black mask, black shirt and black pants, Woods said.
Both men were armed and told the woman they were there to rob her. She was instructed to put her animals up and was made to lie face down on her bed where she was bound, Woods said.
Both men rummaged through the residence for valuables and took several items. After they left, Wurl was able to escape to a neighbor’s house for help, Woods said.
Anyone with information concerning this home invasion, should contact the sheriff’s department’s Criminal Investigation Division, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. or contact the non-emergency number at 541-5300.
