A 22-year-old man identified himself as the shooter in a Monday morning homicide at The Arbor on Fir apartments in Pine Bluff.
Police were on an unrelated call at about 1 a.m. when officers heard gunshots, according to a news release. Police searched for the location of gunshots and found a male shooting victim as dispatch put out a shooting call.
The man, later identified as Timothy Cannady, 37, was lying near the southwest corner of the apartment complex at 3021 S. Fir St.
He was unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County coroner’s office.

Police say Marravius Keshawn Jackson identified himself as the shooter on a call to dispatch. Jackson reportedly said he left the scene and was in his vehicle, and dispatchers reportedly told him to return to the location of the shooting, where officers were. Jackson reportedly complied.
Jackson was taken into custody along with a firearm on his person. He was taken to the Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Office and interviewed, then to the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Detention Center, where he was booked. Pending further investigation, he is suspected of first-degree murder.
A motive for the shooting has not been indicated.
