Suspect held on seized items at Jefferson County jail

A woman was arrested after Jefferson County sheriff’s investigators suspected her of bringing contraband into the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Detention Center, according the sheriff’s office.

The investigators, assigned to the Tri-County Drug Task Force and Criminal Investigation Division, looked into the matter, according to the sheriff’s office. Jail personnel reportedly intercepted approximately 55 grams of suspected K-2, or synthetic cannabinoids, and 25 grams of suspected marijuana, which officials say were hidden in a liquid soap dispenser, and reported it to the investigators.

The suspect, Tiwanna White, 51, was arrested and booked into the detention center. She is accused of furnishing prohibited articles and will appear for a probable cause hearing in district court soon.

“While this continues to be an ongoing challenge for our jail staff, they have not been deterred in making every effort to ensure our facility is the safest possible,” said Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr.
