An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Saturday’s shooting death of 14-year-old Floyd Cornell Allen III, according to the Pine Bluff Police Department.

Dicoreon Ford was taken into custody in Stuttgart Monday evening just hours after police made it known that he was a suspect in the case. Police said Ford will be facing a charge of capital murder.

The arrest came as a result of a joint operation involving Pine Bluff Police Department detectives, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office criminal investigators, the Arkansas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Stuttgart Police Department.

“We are grateful to all participating agencies for their teamwork, dedication, and commitment to public safety,” stated a press release from the Pine Bluff Police Department. “We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the community members who came forward with information that directly contributed to Ford’s arrest.”

A separate press release, issued earlier Monday afternoon about the case, said there was a reward for information that led to Ford’s arrest and that he was to be considered armed and dangerous.

At about 5:55 p.m. on Saturday, police found Allen unresponsive in a yard in the 2500 block of South Maple Street. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Allen had died. Allen was the first juvenile to die by homicide in Pine Bluff in more than a year and a half.

Pine Bluff Police have clarified this is the eighth homicide it has investigated this year and the sixth that has landed in an arrest.
