Retired educator Andranette “Anne” Anderson, who was recently released from jail in Aruba, will attend a homecoming celebration in her honor, according to a news release.
With the theme, “God Still Answers Prayer,” the service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St. The Rev. Lloyd Holcomb Jr. is the pastor.
Anderson was jailed in Aruba in March and released in July, the news release said. She attend this service, according to the Rev. Amelio P. Howard, pastor of Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, where Anderson is a musician.
“Anderson and a cousin traveled to Aruba for what was to be a dream vacation and early birthday celebration,” the news release said. “But as they attempted to pass through security and customs at the airport on the return trip home, Anderson was detained.”
“According to family members, someone had slipped a gun into her luggage, which resulted in her being arrested and jailed while Aruba law enforcement investigated,” the news release said. “Her trial took place in July and she was released.”

The homecoming celebration service is open to the general public.
“Anne has been vindicated and released,” Howard said in the news release. “Thanks for all the community’s support, encouragement and your prayers.”
