Sulphur Springs residence burns

A residence in the Sulphur Springs community was heavily damaged Friday afternoon by a fire of undetermined origin, said Capt. Steven Tidwell of the Watson Chapel Volunteer Fire Department.

The first volunteers to arrive at the Keith Lawrence home, 11215 Murdock Road, found one end of the structure “completely involved” in flames, Tidwell said.

Seven Watson Chapel firemen responded about 2:45 p.m., Tidwell added, with two pumper trucks and a tanker. Firemen said they brought the blaze under control about 3:12 p.m.

Tidwell said Watson Chapel firemen requested assistance from the Highway 15 South Volunteer Fire Department under their mutual aid pact, adding that the Highway 15 volunteers responded with one pumper and one tanker.

Lawrence was not at home when the fire was discovered, Tidwell said, and no one was injured.
