Students’ trike-a-thon to benefit St. Jude

Children at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Child Development Center will be “riding” to help other children Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. during the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Trike-A-Thon.

Children will bring their riding toys to school to demonstrate safety practices they have learned throughout the week while raising money for the hospital.

During the week, children have been participating in a safety curriculum and fundraising program. While their parents sought donations, the children practiced safe riding skills. CDC children participate in the trike-a-thon annually.

St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments not covered by insurance. No child is denied treatment because of a family’s inability to pay.

The child development center at UAPB has an Arkansas Quality Accreditation. The CDC program has the highest level (3) rating of the new Arkansas Quality Improvement System, Better Beginnings. Attendance is open to all children on a first come, first served basis. The CDC accepts children 18 months to 4 years.

Anyone interested in making a trike-a-thon donation may deliver it to the center or request that a donation be picked up. Donations may be mailed to the UAPB Child Development Center. 1200 N. University Drive, Mail Slot 4971, Pine Bluff, AR, 71601.

Checks and money orders should be made payable to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Details: Call (870) 575-8806, (870) 575-7273, (870) 575-7007, (870) 575-8966 or email fordt@uapb.edu.
