Last week, the Louis Moss Striders Track Club participated in the USATF Arkansas Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships at the Coleman Sports Recreation Complex on the campus of the Univeristy of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Of the 21 participants, several won first-place medals and advanced to the USATF Regional Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma, set for July 9-12. The top five placers in each event at the regional will advance to the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Jacksonville, Florida.
In the 8-and-under division, Debra Rauls took first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 16.14 seconds and in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1 minute, 23.65 seconds. Fhenix Eans won in the long jump with a leap of 2.95 meters and claimed second in the 100. Winter Eans took gold in the 200-meter dash with a time of 39.98 seconds and took bronze in the long jump. Dariah Harris won the 800-meter run with a time of 3 minutes, 34.86 seconds and took second in the 400. Russell Moon won the 100, 400 and the 800. ZaMarion McDonald took home the title of 200-meter dash champion with a time of 39.47 seconds.
The 9- to 10-year-old age group saw Anaya Johnson win the 200, the 400 and the long jump. Tayshaun Croom won the 200, the 400 and the 800. Desmon Moss took second in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 6 minutes, 32.04 seconds.
Coulaj Eans won the 100 in the 11-12 division winning with a time of 13.77 seconds. He finished with silver in the 200 and in the long jump. Brooke White won the 1,500 with a time of 5 minutes, 33.30 seconds. Morgan White won the 200 with a time of 1 minute, 5.34 seconds while Armani Scaife placed first in the 800.

Jada Blunt led the 13-14 division with a first-place finish in the 100 and the 200. Brett Sargent took third in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 58.34 seconds. Trenton Womack took fourth in the 1,500 with a time of 6 minutes, 46.70 seconds.
In the 15-16 division, Tahlia Moore took third in the 200 and finished fourth in the 400. Brent Sargent took bronze in the 400 and placed fifth in the 200.
Pine Bluff Filly Rebekah Hamilton took gold in the 100 in the 17-18 age group with a time of 12.58 seconds. She took silver in the 200, 400 and the triple jump. Sir Mackievelli Holmes took gold in the triple jump with a jump of 11.85 meters. He took third and fourth in the long jump and high jump, respectively.
