Storms lead to widespread power outages

Rain and thunderstorms that moved into the Pine Bluff area Thursday afternoon resulted in significant power outages in the eastern areas of town according to an Entergy Arkansas spokesperson.

Diane Tatum, regional customer service manager with Entergy Arkansas, said that thousands of customers were affected.

“We have had weather conditions in the area that left in excess of 3,000 customers without power Thursday afternoon,” Tatum said. “We lost a total of six circuits due to the storms. We have already restored one of the circuits which brought 1,000 of our customers back online.”

Tatum said that Entergy was estimating all power to the affected customers would be restored by midnight.

“Our crews are out troubleshooting now to make sure there are no trees down on power lines,” Tatum said.

Tatum said that the number of customers on any given circuit is dependent upon the mix of residential, business and industrial users.
