LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas State Police Commission Friday approved the recommendations of Col. J.R. Howard, director of the State Police, to promote two commanders to the rank of captain, including a Pine Bluff resident.
Lt. Ron Stayton, 54, of Pine Bluff was promoted to captain and will be assigned to command duties to lead the department’s Crimes Against Children Division.
Stayton, a 27-year veteran of the police agency, has most recently served as commander of State Police Criminal Investigation Division, Company B, headquartered at Pine Bluff.
The promotions were considered by commissioners during a regularly scheduled meeting at the department’s Little Rock headquarters.
